Every formulation decision we make traces back to one principle: Indian skin, in Indian climate, requires Indian-calibrated science. Here is what that means in practice.
The problem with global skincare in India
The global skincare industry develops formulations in climates with UV Index 3–6, relative humidity 40–65%, and PM2.5 concentrations below 15 µg/m³. These are the controlled conditions in which actives are tested, stability is measured, and SPF values are determined.
India's climate is categorically different. UV Index 8–11 year-round. Humidity swings from 40% to 95% across seasons. PM2.5 concentrations of 80–400 µg/m³ in major cities. 38–45°C summer temperatures driving transepidermal water loss at rates far exceeding European test models.
A sunscreen with SPF 50+ tested at UV Index 4 does not perform identically at UV Index 11. A Vitamin C serum stable at 50% humidity oxidises faster at 90%. A retinol formula tested on Fitzpatrick Type II skin carries different risk profiles on Fitzpatrick Type IV–VI skin.
Bio-Fermentation — why it matters for Indian skin
L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is the most clinically proven skin brightening and antioxidant ingredient in dermatology. It is also one of the most unstable. At concentrations above 10%, it oxidises rapidly when exposed to light, heat and oxygen. In Indian humidity (75–95% RH), this degradation accelerates.
By the time a standard Vitamin C serum sits in transit in a Mumbai warehouse in July, then on a pharmacy shelf, then in a bathroom cabinet for 3 months — the active concentration may have dropped by 40–60% from the label claim. The consumer is applying degraded product and wondering why they see no results.
Bio-fermentation produces Vitamin C through a controlled microbial process that creates more stable molecular structures and reduces oxidation kinetics. Our bio-fermented Vitamin C maintains over 85% potency at 90% relative humidity and 38°C across a 6-month stability window — versus under 45% for equivalent L-Ascorbic Acid.
The fermentation process also produces postbiotic metabolites — byproduct compounds with proven anti-inflammatory and barrier-supporting properties. These are not added. They are generated. The formulation is doing more than the label declares.
Microsphere Encapsulation — solving the PIH problem
Retinol is clinically the most proven anti-ageing and pigmentation-reducing ingredient in skincare. On Fitzpatrick Types I–III (pale to medium European skin), starting retinol causes manageable initial redness that resolves in 2–3 weeks. On Fitzpatrick Types IV–VI (the majority of Indian consumers), the retinisation response carries a serious risk: post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
PIH occurs when the skin's inflammatory response to a new active triggers melanocyte overproduction. The result: the dark spots and uneven tone that retinol was meant to treat are made worse before they improve — and in some cases, do not improve at all without medical intervention.
Encapsulation changes this equation. Our retinol is encased in biodegradable polymer microspheres — typically between 5 and 20 micrometres — that adhere to the skin surface and dissolve gradually over 6–8 hours. Instead of a peak retinol concentration hitting the epidermis within the first 30 minutes after application, concentration builds slowly and stays below the irritation threshold across the entire release window.
The efficacy is equivalent. The PIH risk is dramatically reduced. The retinisation process proceeds without the inflammatory cascade that triggers hyperpigmentation on darker skin.

Niacinamide 10% — the most important ingredient for Indian skin
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is uniquely valuable for Indian skin because it addresses four problems simultaneously — a rare property in skincare science.
Niacinamide at 10% inhibits the transfer of melanosomes (melanin-containing vesicles) from melanocytes to keratinocytes — the primary mechanism of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and sun-triggered dark spots on Indian skin. Reduces visible pigmentation by 35–68% in clinical trials at 8 weeks.
Niacinamide reduces sebaceous gland activity by modulating the lipid synthesis pathway. Clinically proven to reduce sebum production by 13–19% at 10% concentration — significant for Indian oily skin driven by heat and humidity-triggered gland hyperactivity.
Niacinamide stimulates de novo ceramide synthesis within keratinocytes — rebuilding the lipid matrix of the stratum corneum. Critical for Indian skin that loses barrier integrity through heat-driven transepidermal water loss and pollution particle penetration.
Niacinamide suppresses the NF-κB inflammatory pathway, reducing the cytokine cascade triggered by UV exposure, pollution-derived oxidative stress and physical heat stress. Calms reactivity without the side effects of corticosteroid alternatives.
